President of the Van Commodity Exchange (VANTB) Nayif Süer issued various warnings regarding sacrificial animals ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha. Van Metropolitan Municipality and Van Commodity Exchange President Süer stated that there is an increase in activity in the sale of sacrificial animals at the Van Livestock Market (Van Livestock Market), where services are provided by Van Metropolitan Municipality, Van Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and veterinarians from Van Commodity Exchange. He said, ‘Our Van Livestock Market is under the control of veterinarians working at Van Metropolitan Municipality, Van Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and Van Commodity Exchange. After the inspection by veterinarians, small and large livestock are put up for sale. Sacrificial animal sales will continue until the fourth day of the holiday, but the purchase of sacrificial animals should not be left to the last days.’ Süer emphasized that apart from the Van Livestock Market (Van Livestock Market) operated by Van Metropolitan Municipality and Van Commodity Exchange, sacrificial animal purchase and slaughter will not be allowed in places designated by municipalities. He stated, ‘The slaughter of sacrificial animals should be carried out in authorized slaughterhouses in cities and towns, as well as in slaughter areas with infrastructure prepared only for sacrificial slaughter and in locations determined by the sacrificial services commissions. In rural neighborhoods and areas without slaughterhouses, slaughter can be carried out in compliance with the regulations without causing harm to the environment. However, slaughter in public areas such as streets, parks, and squares is prohibited. The sacrificial animal should not be caused pain or distress. Random slaughter should be avoided, and certified and trained butchers should perform the slaughter. Certified training should also be provided for new butchers. Otherwise, a large number of injuries may occur.’
