In Gümüşhane, where 60% of its geography turns into a variety of colors with the arrival of the spring season, the Cami Yurdu plateau at the foothills of Çimen Mountain, famous for its swallows, yellow flowers, and meadows, has turned completely yellow. The members of Gümüşhane Mountaineering, Nature Sports and Youth Association (GÜDAK), who meticulously explore the Gümüşhane mountains which have become a paradise for nature lovers, organized a program to Cami Yurdu Plateau at the foothills of Çimen Mountain, where one of the most striking beauties unfolds. A total of 31 athletes, 21 from Gümüşhane and 10 from Kelkit, participated in the nature walk to Cami Yurdu Plateau, which enchants nature lovers by turning into all shades of yellow in the spring months as some of Kelkit River’s waters flow into Erzincan while some flow into Gümüşhane borders.
Starting the hike from the Cemallı village connected to Kelkit district, the group was mesmerized by the scenery of vast areas filled with blooming yellow flowers when they reached Cami Yurdu area. Walking along paths adorned with yellow flowers and daisies, nature enthusiasts took plenty of photos to immortalize these moments, had fun like children in the plateau, and enjoyed the beauty offered by nature. The athletes completed the 17-kilometer course under the rain as they progressed to Gürleyik village.
“I recommend everyone visiting Gümüşhane to join this group”. Dr. Amin Fatu, who temporarily came to Gümüşhane on duty from Rize and explored the Gümüşhane geography by joining the GÜDAK team, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the event. He expressed his desire to participate again in the future and recommended everyone visiting Gümüşhane to join this group, emphasizing the beauty of the activity and the pleasant time spent together.
“This is a unique beauty that must be seen”. The guide of the group, Fatih Arslan, stated that the region at an altitude of 2,400 meters, separating Kelkit and Erzincan, is famous for its swallows, yellow flowers, and meadows. Describing the uniqueness of Cami Yurdu or Çimen Plateau, he recommended all nature lovers to visit this area especially when the flowers bloom in this season. He mentioned that the flowers bloom in early June and it is possible to see them until the end of June.
“A very beautiful plateau with magnificent yellow flowers”. Mustafa Akbulut, the President of GÜDAK, mentioned that they organized a route over the Kelkit Canyon, starting from Kelkit Cemallı village and continuing towards Çimenli Plateau and Cami Yurdu. He recommended the route, emphasizing the beauty of the yellow flowers on the plateau and the comfortable and pleasant hike they had, despite getting caught in a bit of rain, which he referred to as nature’s whims. He concluded that it was a beautiful hike.
