For years, Özgür Özyürek, who has been selling books, explained that sales have been increasing during the same period each year. Özyürek stated that the best-selling books are detective novels, self-improvement books, and books compiled from places known as Wattpad. Özgür Özyürek emphasized that the proximity of school closures is the main reason for the increase in book sales, saying, ‘The arrival of summer primarily means the closure of secondary schools. Whenever secondary schools close, there is always an increase in book sales. The closure of universities does not have a significant impact. However, the closure of middle schools and high schools where Eskişehir students study leads to an increase in book sales. Our branches are very busy in the summer. Because Eskişehir is a tourist city, tourism is gradually increasing. Groups are coming right now. Almost every weekend, 5-6 groups visit. The place they all visit is the Adalar area. That’s why our branch there is very busy, and our sales are quite good and on the rise. Currently, self-improvement books are in high demand. Apart from that, books on the history of religions are an area that people are interested in. We have children’s books. As I said, there has been an interest in them with the closure of middle and high schools. Also, detective novels are selling very well. In addition, young Turkish authors’ youth fiction or youth fiction books have gained a good momentum. They are followed by classics and other books that everyone knows.’
