Construction works are progressing rapidly at Buca Metro. Trees on Doğuş Street will be protected due to the construction works of Dokuz Eylül University Station. The trees, which will be removed from their places using special methods, will be taken care of in nurseries owned by the Metropolitan Municipality. Some of the uprooted trees will be planted in green areas in the city, while some will be replanted in their original locations once the construction is completed.

Buca Metro, which will serve on a 13.5-kilometer line between Üçyol-Dokuz Eylül University Tınaztepe Campus-Çamlıkule that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is constructing with its own resources, continues excavation works at full speed with 4 tunnel boring machines (TBM). In order for tunnel excavations to start and stations to be built, the trees in the construction site are being protected. Previously, the Metropolitan teams, by pruning and relocating the trees in Şelale Park in the General Asım Gündüz Station area and Atatürk Park in the Hasanağa Bahçesi Station area, will protect the green area in the Dokuz Eylül University Station area where the works will begin. In this context, the trees on Doğuş Street will be removed from their places using special methods. The trees will be taken to Metropolitan Municipality nurseries for maintenance. Some of the uprooted trees will be planted in green areas in the city, while some will be replanted in their original locations once the construction is completed.

Daily 400 thousand passengers

Buca Metro, which includes stations such as Üçyol, Zafertepe, Bozyaka, General Asım Gündüz, Şirinyer, Buca Belediyesi, Kasaplar Meydanı, Hasanağa Bahçesi, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi, Buca Koop, and Çamlıkule, will be integrated with the existing metro line operating between Fahrettin Altay-Bornova and the İZBAN line in Şirinyer at Üçyol Station. Trains on this line will operate driverless. It is envisaged that the construction of Buca Metro, including vehicles, will be completed for 765 million euros. When the line is opened for operation, a daily passenger number of 400 thousand is expected.
