Located within the borders of Dörtkonak village attached to the center of Gümüşhane, Dipsiz Göl (Bottomless Lake) situated on the peaks of high mountains offers impressive views in the spring season along with the surrounding lakes. Just 25 minutes away from the city center, Dipsiz Göl, located at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level, attracts the attention of nature lovers and photography enthusiasts with around 10 large and small lakes around it during the spring season. It is rumored that the name of Dipsiz Göl, fed by snow, rain, and spring waters, originated from the cows sinking and disappearing in the middle of the lake many years ago while approaching the lake to drink water. Dörtkonak village, where there are other lakes such as Aygır Göl and Kuru Göller on its peaks, and more than 15 natural lakes of various sizes, is referred to as the second lake region in Gümüşhane due to having the highest number of lakes after Artabel Lakes Nature Park. The area, which also includes a historic lignite coal mine and petrified tree fossils dating back to 190 million years, is described as an important tourism and cultural area with its historical background, lakes, fossil beds, snow wells, lime wells, and other values. Photographer Samet Çelik, who is known for not only its lakes but also its unique sunset views, stated that they came to Dipsiz Göl to capture this unique scenery in the spring season, saying, ‘Gümüşhane is famous for its lakes. After Artabel lakes, Dipsiz Göl area has the most lakes. Only around this lake, there are around 10 large and small lakes these months. There is also a beauty here. There is a beauty in the shape of a heart with yellow flowers in Dipsiz Göl.’ Mentioning that they came to the lake in the evening to capture this beauty, Çelik recorded, ‘This place is not only ours but also a destination for many people. The reason is that it is one of the best points to capture the sunset. We had a nice ambiance with its yellow flowers, daisies, and ducks in the lake. It’s a place half an hour away from Gümüşhane. I would like everyone to come here. I even recommend it. Beautiful photos were taken at sunset. We took beautiful shots in the redness of the sun. We captured very nice frames of the silhouettes of the mountains in backlight.’
