The first session of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), has been completed. This year, 3,120,878 candidates applied for the exam, and the first session of YKS, which started at 10:15, consisted of 120 questions in TYT: 40 in Turkish Language, 20 in Social Sciences, 40 in Basic Mathematics, and 20 in Science, with a duration of 165 minutes. TYT was held in 81 provinces of Turkey, in the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Lefkoşa, and in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. In the first session held in 9,855 buildings and 176,851 rooms, 438,684 people served as staff. After completing the exam, students who took the exam at the Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty of Law Campus reunited with their families. Tomorrow, AYT and YDT will be held. The second session of YKS, the Area Proficiency Tests (AYT), will start tomorrow at 10:15. In AYT, candidates will be asked 40 questions in Turkish Language and Literature-Social Sciences-1, 40 questions in Social Sciences-2, 40 questions in Mathematics, and 40 questions in Science, with a duration of 180 minutes. 2,019,709 candidates will participate in AYT. The exam will be held in 6,231 buildings and 112,695 rooms. The third and final session, the Foreign Language Test (YDT), will start tomorrow at 15:45, and candidates will have 120 minutes. The exam will be in 5 languages: German, Arabic, French, English, and Russian, with 80 questions. This year, 222,473 candidates will take the exam in English, 5,913 in Arabic, 3,000 in German, 1,206 in French, and 797 in Russian. In the 2024 YKS, a total of 3,127 readers and markers will serve in three sessions for disabled candidates. Additionally, disabled candidates who have the right to benefit from an additional 30 minutes will finish the exam at 13:30. YKS results will be announced on July 17th.
