The 11th-grade students of Bayburt High School initiated a new eTwinning project this year under the leadership of their English teacher Yeşim Tepeli. The project, led by Elena Dragomir and Aybike Balcı, is successfully conducted with the partnership of 8 teachers from Turkey, 1 from Spain, and 3 from Romania, along with 6 students from Bayburt High School. The project aims to draw attention to the positive and negative aspects of technology. The project named ‘Beware’ includes activities related to the correct use of technology, digital bullying, internet ethics, and many other topics. While conducting these activities, students use various web 2.0 and web 3.0 tools to effectively use technology and raise awareness on the subject. So far, the students have conducted fascinating eTwinning activities such as presenting the project with the Emaze application, writing and vocalizing their own song lyrics in English with Meetingwords, creating logo posters, slogans, and presentations related to the project with the Canva program, designing avatars with programs like Bitmoji and Snapchat, writing and videoizing poems for eTwinning Day, preparing mutual New Year cards for project partners, writing stories with the Storyjumper program, and preparing dialogues with project partners on forums. The students, who also use English as a common language, are improving their English skills through these activities. While representing Bayburt in the project, the students also have the opportunity to introduce Bayburt’s culture, get acquainted with different cultures, and interact with other cultures. It is expected that the eTwinning project, which includes numerous individual and collaborative activities, will receive both national and European quality labels.
