During the June session of the Lapseki Municipality in Çanakkale, a debate arose about ‘Who is Candaroğlu?’ AK Party Municipal Council Member Hakan Genç asked Mayor Atilla Öztürk who Candaroğlu was. At that moment, Erdem Candaroğlu entered the council meeting by knocking on the door and said, ‘I am Candaroğlu, what happened?’ Genç responded by asking, ‘What is your duty?’ Other council members intervened and escorted Erdem Candaroğlu out without the argument escalating. The debate was quickly resolved without further escalation.
The June session of the Lapseki Municipality in Çanakkale took place yesterday. Towards the end of the meeting, a debate arose about ‘Who is Candaroğlu?’ AK Party Municipal Council Member Hakan Genç questioned Erdem Candaroğlu, a topic of discussion among all citizens in the district, asking about his identity, his position next to the Mayor, his qualifications, and his involvement in various matters. Erdem Candaroğlu entered the room by knocking on the door and claimed, ‘I am Candaroğlu.’ The dispute was peacefully resolved when other council members escorted Erdem Candaroğlu out.
Following the incident, AK Party Municipal Council Member Hakan Genç, in a statement to the Ihlas News Agency (İHA), expressed his intention to take the matter to court after the argument with Erdem Candaroğlu during the Municipal Council meeting.
After the argument, AK Party members organized a press release in front of the Lapseki Municipality yesterday, expressing their disapproval towards Erdem Candaroğlu, who entered the council meeting by force, and the Good Party Mayor Atilla Öztürk, who remained unresponsive to the incident. AK Party Lapseki District Chairman Hasan Engin was also present during the press release. AK Party Lapseki Municipal Council Group Deputy Chairman Filiz Özer Teoman stated that they leave the evaluation of this behavior to the people of Lapseki, emphasizing the importance of respect for social values. She highlighted the disruption of the council meeting’s order and the loss of reputation, promising to file complaints with relevant institutions on behalf of the citizens of Lapseki.
