The last of the June municipal council meetings of Düzce Municipality was held under the chairmanship of Vice President Ali Dilber. While 13 agenda items were discussed and concluded, a change in the fare of passenger transport was made.
Düzce Municipality’s June municipal council meetings have been completed. During the council meeting chaired by Vice President Ali Dilber, 13 agenda items were discussed, and an update was made to the ticket prices used in public transportation vehicles.
Following the voting of the summary of the previous council minutes, in the meeting that was initially referred to the planning and budget commission, the agenda item regarding the tariff change for passenger fares was discussed. With the new update, the full passenger fare was revised to 24 TL, discounted passenger fare to 15 TL, single-use ticket fare to 27 TL, boarding fare with credit card to 25.50 TL, Young Card 81 monthly fare to 760 TL, as well as the revision of the full card sales fare to 80 TL, student discounted card fare to 100 TL, senior citizens and disabled card fare to 120 TL, 1-year visa fee to 50 TL, and 2-year visa fee to 100 TL were approved by majority vote.
Regarding the agenda item, members of the Welfare Party provided examples from Sakarya, while AK Party council member Hasan Günden provided examples from Bolu and Kastamonu, stating that they did not raise prices to make a profit, but to subsidize and reduce the municipality’s losses for sustainable transportation and logistics.
In the agenda item regarding changes in some fee items related to the 2024 Municipal Police Directorate, an explanation was provided by the Municipal Police Chief Selçuk Yıldırım on why the changes were made. Yıldırım stated that the increases would not affect local tradespeople, but protect them, and in his continued explanation by citing examples from other municipalities, he expressed that the changes were made to generate revenue for the municipality from large businesses. The tariff change was approved by majority vote.
The meeting continued with the discussion of agenda items referred to the zoning commission, where detailed information was provided by Hasan Günden to council members regarding the zoning plan changes in parcels where the Cedidiye Square Project and National Gardens projects will be implemented.
Subsequently, Vice President Ali Dilber evaluated the project brochure prepared by Dr. Faruk Özlü, who was the AK Party Düzce Municipality Mayoral Candidate before the March 31 elections, and shared that he received 40% of the votes and that the public supported these projects. The agenda item was then approved by majority vote.
