Mayor of Talas, Mustafa Yalçın, stated at the ‘ÇEVREFEST’ in Ankara that ‘We are putting effort to make our projects a first in Turkey, not just in Kayseri.’ Talas Municipality is showcasing its exemplary projects and practices on the environment at the ‘ÇEVREFEST’ held with the theme ‘We all have one world’ at Başkent Millet Bahçesi in Ankara, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Mayor Mustafa Yalçın, who attended the opening ceremony of the festival which hosted visitors between June 6-9, 2024, provided information about the stand opened by the municipality. Mayor Yalçın, evaluating the festival, said, ‘We are at ÇEVREFEST in Ankara. It was a beautiful opening at the international level. Many municipalities and companies related to the environment, from energy to solid waste, are participating. People benefit from each other in such events. Here, we are participating by highlighting 5 important projects. We present our Talas Paw House Natural Living Area project, which we implemented 4 years ago regarding street animals and we also exhibit our asphalt project made from plastic waste, which is 20% cheaper and of higher quality. Our work designating the 100 square meter Talas National Garden as a carbon sink area, using Kayseri’s endemic plants to convert a day’s worth of carbon monoxide or greenhouse gas into oxygen, is also showcased here. Additionally, our zero waste project, which transforms solid waste into recyclables 4 years ago and received from the valuable wife of our president, Emine Erdoğan, is also exhibited. Our innovation project is also a separate work. Indeed, we work to make our projects a first not only in Kayseri but in all of Turkey. I thank the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for their hospitality.’ Mayor Yalçın had mutual exchanges with Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki, ministry officials, and other representatives who opened stands during the ‘ÇEVREFEST’. Citizens visiting the Talas Municipality stand received information from the authorities about the projects and expressed their satisfaction.
