Imam Hatip High Schools and Anatolian High Schools in Balıkesir organized a support march for Gaza. Students gathered at the public transportation center in Balıkesir to show support for Gaza and walked to the front of Pasha Mosque, where they made a statement while chanting slogans. The students, who first staged a sit-in protest, spoke on behalf of the students. Fatma Betül, a student from Şule Yüksel Şenler Girls’ Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, stated, ‘Today, the responsibility of thousands of Palestinian children whose childhoods have been deprived, searching for their toys among the debris, hangs on our shoulders. No one possessing the quality of humanity has the right to remain silent. A person has three homelands: their mother, father, and country. Thousands of children in Gaza have been left without a homeland repeatedly. As many times as a heart can be broken, it has been shattered. Gaza is a heart-wrenching situation. The child standing with a stone against the tanks of the occupying forces is called Gaza. The name of the 60-year-old mother who shields her chest against the Israeli soldiers, much stronger than any form of violence, is Gaza. The name of the Gaza children who run up and down the stairs of Al-Aqsa and are shot in their joy, with their olive eyes and pink cheeks, is Gaza. We will boycott all products of global giant companies that support the Zionist terrorist state. We call out to all civilians. Continue the boycott. We boycott Israel and all companies supporting this genocide. Furthermore, we will not let go of our greatest weapon, our pen, and we will read, we will read. We will uphold the Jerusalem cause passed down to us from Saladin. We will continue our struggle until wars end worldwide, and children and mothers smile. We call out to all high school students in Turkey. We invite everyone to the streets. Our only slogan is ‘Free Palestine from rivers to seas.’
