Vangölü Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (VEDAŞ) announced that they will invest 3 billion Turkish liras to strengthen the electricity grid. Providing electricity distribution services in Van, Bitlis, Muş, and Hakkari provinces, VEDAŞ held a meeting at the company headquarters to evaluate their 2024 network investments. The meeting, chaired by VEDAŞ General Manager and Chairman of the Board Cengiz Çakmak, was attended by VEDAŞ Company Manager Fatih Talay, provincial and group managers, and stakeholder companies involved in investment projects.
Expressing their goal of increasing service quality and ensuring consumer satisfaction, Çakmak stated the following after the meeting:
“We met with our stakeholder companies assigned to our investment projects ongoing simultaneously in central and rural areas to evaluate the stages of our projects. By completing a significant portion of our investments during the summer, we will put them into operation.”
“Electric grid is being modernized”
Çakmak stated that they are continuing their investment efforts with a record budget in 2024 to modernize the electric grid; “We are investing approximately 3 billion Turkish liras in our responsibility area to strengthen our existing grid, build new facilities, meet the increasing energy demand, integrate new technologies with our grid, increase street and road lighting. We are expanding our SCADA network, which we manage our grid digitally, and burying overhead lines in provincial and district centers. We are renewing all grid elements that have reached the end of their economic life. We are increasing our digitalization pace with R&D projects we have developed to enhance the operational efficiency of our grid. When forming our investment projects, we take into account the network analysis reports of our process managers and the demands of our consumers.”
“Sending short messages regarding planned power outages”
Çakmak mentioned that during these comprehensive investment efforts, planned power outages are necessary to ensure life and property safety; “During our intensive investment efforts in central and rural areas, we are obliged to make planned and controlled power outages to ensure safety. In case of planned outages affecting our consumers’ installations, we send a short message to their phones. Consumers who want to benefit from this service for free can call our 186 call center number or visit our service points to add or update their phone numbers in our system. I thank the public for their understanding towards planned outages that occur during our investment efforts. By coordinating with all our stakeholders, we aim to provide better service to our consumers and ensure their satisfaction with our investments. I wish our investments to be beneficial to our people.”
