Samsunspor, one of the teams in the Super Lig, announced that they have parted ways with Osman Çelik, Moryke Fofana, Alim Öztürk, and Jakup Szumski, whose contracts have expired. FIFA imposed a 2-period transfer ban on Samsunspor, who took the matter to the Swiss Federal Court, and with the postponement of one period of the ban, they were able to make transfers during last season’s mid-season. Unless a different decision is made, Samsunspor, which is currently under a 2-period transfer ban, could not reach an agreement with team captains Osman Çelik and Moryke Fofana, as well as Alim Öztürk and Jakup Szumski, whose contracts expired on May 31, and parted ways with them.
The statement on the club’s official website stated that the negotiations with the players whose contracts have expired had negative outcomes. It expressed regret that they will not be together with Osman Çelik, Moryke Fofana, Alim Öztürk, and Jakub Szumski in the new season. The club also shared thoughts on the team’s rejuvenation and the contributions that young players from the academy will make to the club in the future.
Among the departing players, 33-year-old goalkeeper Jakup Szumski played only 2 matches last season. 31-year-old defender Alim Öztürk participated in 25 matches and made 2 assists. 33-year-old defensive midfielder Osman Çelik played in 27 matches and made 1 assist. 33-year-old winger Moryke Fofana played in 27 matches, scoring 1 goal and making 4 assists.
Currently unable to transfer players from other clubs, Samsunspor is reportedly in ongoing contract negotiations with midfielders Muhammet Ali Özbaskıcı and Zeki Yavru, whose contracts expired last season, as well as with Taylan Antalyalı, who was loaned from Galatasaray, and Muhammed Gümüşkaya, an offensive midfielder loaned from Westerlo.
