The Governor of Bursa, Mahmut Demirtaş, stated that a total of 100 hectares of forest land burned in the fire that broke out in the Orhaneli district, and mentioned that the firefighting efforts are ongoing with 4 planes, 4 helicopters, and 400 personnel on the ground. The fire, which started in the forested area at Topuk Mahallesi in the Orhaneli district around 13:30, quickly grew due to the windy and hot weather in the region. Upon the notification of the fire by the residents, forest and firefighting teams were quickly dispatched to the area. As pine cones exploded and were carried to distant places by the wind, the fire grew even larger, leading to aerial intervention. The firefighting efforts with 4 planes, 4 helicopters, 80 vehicles, and 400 personnel on the ground are ongoing without slowing down. Governor of Bursa, Mahmut Demirtaş, and the Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Tekin Aktemur are closely monitoring the firefighting efforts in the region and coordinating the teams. Providing information about the current situation of the fire, Governor of Bursa, Mahmut Demirtaş, stated, ‘Approximately 100 hectares of land have burned. The extinguishing efforts are continuing rapidly. 4 helicopters and 4 planes are providing aerial support. On the ground, our interventions are ongoing with 400 personnel. We are relatively in a better situation. Our citizens are also providing all the help they can. The forestry organization, along with all our public institutions, is intervening to extinguish the fire. I believe we will bring the fire under control as soon as possible. The fire is not too far from residential areas. We have taken precautions just in case. We are making efforts to extinguish it. Having 4 helicopters and 4 planes is an advantage for us. I believe we will bring the fire under control soon. The temperatures have been increasing significantly in recent days. We think the fire might have started due to this. Nevertheless, we will investigate.’
