A final trial exam before the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) was held at the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Education and Training Support course centers. A total of 4,275 university candidates who had been preparing throughout the year were mentally and psychologically ready for the exam.

The preparation process for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) was completed at the education and training support course centers operating under the Department of Social Services. Throughout the year, a total of 4,275 university candidates receiving services from Tarsus to Anamur underwent an intense study process.

Students who had been preparing for the YKS with both lessons and mock exams also took the final mock exam held at the course centers. The aim of the mock exam, which 4,275 students took simultaneously, was to help students manage their time and reduce exam stress.

Students expressed that they had a productive preparation process at the course centers, while teachers stated that just like before the exam, they would continue to support not only the course center students but all students in the city during the preference process.

“We emphasized the frequency of mock exams”
Rukiye Türk, the Guidance Teacher of the Metropolitan Municipality Education and Training Support Course Center, stated that there are 20 course centers in the province, 11 of which are for YKS preparation and the others are for the Secondary School Placement Exam (LGS) preparation. Türk emphasized that a total of 4,275 students received education at the YKS course centers this year, saying, “Since the beginning of the year, we provided guidance lessons to all classes. In addition to that, we also provide educational coaching. We create individual programs for our students, and we also monitor the mock exams we conduct every week. Additionally, we held parent meetings every month.” Türk also mentioned that they conducted frequent mock exams throughout the process, stating, “Both in the first term and in this final period approaching the exam, in the last two weeks, our students took the TYT and AYT mock exams every day. This last mock exam we conducted was a general TYT mock exam that we called a rehearsal for the YKS. We emphasized the frequency of the mock exams to prepare the students both physically and psychologically.”

“The last week before the exam is crucial”
Türk expressed that negative thoughts about the exam would decrease the student’s motivation, so there should be no negative attitudes about the exam in the student’s social life or at home, saying, “It is necessary to establish a sleep routine before the exam. The reason we conduct these exams is for students to try to prepare themselves as if it were the exam day. Therefore, especially in the last week, we expect more attention to be paid to this. Waking up early as if going to the exam, consuming the usual foods, preparing the documents before the exam, and visiting the exam site are also very important.”

Türk stated that their support to the students would continue in the upcoming period and wished success to all students taking the exam.
