The ‘Smart Agriculture Smart Farmer’ project, implemented under the coordination of the Efeler District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, came to an end with the closing meeting, aiming to spread the use of smart farming practices among producers in Aydin.

The closing meeting of the ‘Smart Agriculture Smart Farmer’ project, which was launched to ensure that producers in Aydin, one of the important agricultural cities, keep up with evolving technology and to popularize the use of smart farming practices, was held. During the meeting organized by the Efeler District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in coordination with project partners, agricultural models and smart farming systems applied worldwide were explained. The importance of adapting to the digital world was also emphasized with the presence of officials from Greece and Hungary, who are EU project partners. Over the past year, starting in May 2023, awareness has been raised through events and workshops organized to enlighten Civil Society Organizations and farmers on smart farming.

Speaking at the meeting, Aydin Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Altintas, emphasized the importance of using technology in agriculture, stating that ‘Smart farming is a knowledge-based agricultural production model that adheres to the principle of sustainability, using modern technology to increase the yield and quality of agricultural products. With the Smart Agriculture Smart Farmer Project prepared by our Efeler District Directorate to introduce smart farming practices to our producers and contribute to its proliferation, project partners have gained valuable insights by observing and examining best practices on-site for transferring them to their own producers. By sharing these insights with our farmers through 16 neighborhood meetings, they have brought smart farming methods used outside our country to our producers.’

The meeting was attended by Efeler District Governor Ilker Arikan, Aydin Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Altintas, President of Aydin Commodity Exchange Fevzi Condur, President of Efeler Chamber of Agriculture Mehmet Kendirlioglu, Deputy Directors and Branch Managers of Aydin Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, District Directors, Union Presidents, and sector representatives.
