Emergency drill in factories by Kocaeli Fire Department

Firefighters in Kocaeli not only provide theoretical training in factories against potential fires and disasters but also conduct drills. The Fire Prevention and Training Branch Directorate of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, Training Unit (KOBİTEM), organizes training activities and drills in institutions and companies in addition to fire and disaster training. Most recently, firefighters conducted an emergency response and evacuation drill in two factories located in Kartepe and Körfez. During the drill in Kartepe, following the activation of the emergency alarm, the personnel in the facility reached the assembly points using predetermined emergency escape routes. Attendance was taken by the relevant authorities to ensure that all employees safely reached the assembly point. Subsequently, an injured employee, as part of the scenario, was evacuated from the location with the intervention of the first aid teams and taken to the ambulance service. Following the drill, an intervention against a fuel fire was carried out using portable fire extinguishers. In the drill conducted in Körfez, upon the activation of the emergency alarm, all employees reached the assembly point. Attendance was taken to confirm whether all employees reached the assembly point. According to the scenario, intervention was made using a portable fire extinguisher assuming a minor fire. Showering and cooling systems for protection and intervention against tanks were activated. Simulated cooling and extinguishing process was applied using fixed water monitors and hose arrangements. The effectiveness of emergency plans created in compliance with laws and regulations is crucial in case of a potential emergency, aiming to reduce and eliminate potential loss of life and property in a real incident.
