Kocaeli Governor Seddar Yavuz, who made important warnings to district municipalities regarding stray animals, stated, ‘Those without shelters should quickly build shelters without making excuses. Concentrate on sterilization activities. I warn once again those who are lacking in these areas just like in other areas. Fulfill the requirements of the law, build your shelters and start sterilization activities.’ Governor Seddar Yavuz chaired the ‘Expanded Provincial Security and Public Order Coordination Meeting’ held. Governor Yavuz, in his statements, expressed that the risk of forest fires is increasing due to the warming weather and the climate change effective worldwide, emphasizing the need to be cautious and careful.
To prevent potential forest fires, Yavuz stated that measures have been taken by the Governorship, ‘Especially in areas with high fire risk, restrictions have been imposed on entering forest areas, staying, and making fires, and shared with the public. Burning of stubble, incidents that sadden us in vineyards and garden cleaning have not occurred. We reiterate our warnings on this matter. Not even stubble will be burned, and we will not allow these materials to be burned through vineyard and garden cleaning. We ask our citizens to be careful in this matter.’
‘We aim to teach swimming to 30 thousand citizens this year’ Governor Yavuz stated that there are important tourism destinations in Kocaeli, for this reason, approximately 60 thousand vehicles enter the Kandıra region on weekends, and about 300 thousand people from Istanbul and surrounding provinces benefit from the beaches in the city. Governor Seddar Yavuz, who stated that deaths and drownings occasionally occur on the beaches, mentioned that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is conducting the ‘Let No One Be Left Without Knowing How to Swim’ campaign, indicating that 138 thousand citizens have been trained in swimming within this scope. Yavuz stated that teaching swimming to 30 thousand citizens is aimed for this year.
Governor Yavuz continued his words as follows: ‘Especially for the protection of public order and general health, we have banned entering water bodies, rivers, lakes, ponds, dams, floodgates, regulators, canals, water accumulations, flood protection or irrigation canals, etc., belonging to ISU or private enterprises for cooling off or swimming purposes. We especially need our citizens to be careful about this issue. Relevant institutions will prevent uncontrolled entry into these areas through warning signs and inspections. I will share some of the decisions announced with the district commissions for drowning incidents prevention, which were prepared by our Governorship. Swimming areas identified should be marked with floating devices up to 200 meters from the shore and warnings indicating swimming limits should be present in these areas. We expect everyone to comply with these signs. District commissions will conduct inspections at least once a month and the inspection results will be shared with our Governorship. For the safety of our citizens, areas outside the prohibited swimming zones will be delimited with buoys, and entry of all kinds of watercraft such as speedboats, jet skis, water bikes, and fishing boats will be prevented. Currents drawing spots on the beaches will be identified and marked with warning buoys’.
‘657 drug operations were carried out’ Yavuz also announced the operations carried out in Kocaeli in the last month, ‘Our fight against subcontractor terrorist organizations that have become a curse to our country continues. This struggle continues both within our borders and beyond. In a one-month period, 15 operations were carried out against all terrorist organizations, 19 people were detained, 3 people were arrested, and 7 were released on judicial control. Due to internal turmoil and occupations in our close geography, our struggle against migrant smuggling and irregular migration continues. Within this scope, 5 operations were carried out in the last month, 28 organizers were captured, 26 were arrested, and 1 was released on judicial control, 373 irregular migrants were caught. Our fight against drug traffickers poisoning our children and youth continues. Within this scope, 657 operations were carried out, 816 people were detained, 57 were arrested, and 28 were released on judicial control. 54 kilograms of cocaine, 9.4 kilograms of bonzai, 252 synthetic drugs, 932 cannabis, 4 grams of heroin, 1.7 kilograms of marijuana, 258 grams of skunk, 443 ecstasy pills, 914 grams of methamphetamine were seized’.
‘Tax loss of 12 million 318 thousand 200 TL prevented’ Governor Seddar Yavuz emphasized that they are also fighting against organized crime syndicates that scare the citizens, invade their properties, and threaten their safety, ‘Within this scope, 6 operations were carried out and 12 people were detained. Our fight against smuggling causing financial losses continues. 74 operations were carried out, 60 people were detained, 3 were arrested, and 7 were released on judicial control. Also, in this regard, 3 smuggling crime syndicates were dismantled locally, nationally, and regionally. 95 kilograms of tobacco, 18,500 liters of fuel, 26 mobile phones, 112,000 packs of cigarettes, 428 historical artifacts, 650 contraband materials were seized, and a tax loss of 12 million 318 thousand 200 TL was prevented. 12 operations were carried out against financial crimes, 18 people were detained, 9 were arrested. A mafia type, a financial crime gang was dismantled, 200 counterfeit dollars, 442 contraband materials were seized’.
‘We have planned many precautions’ Yavuz emphasized that many precautions have been taken for the citizens to spend the holiday in peace, ‘Especially the identification of slaughter areas, not causing harm to the environment while slaughtering, delivering sacrificial meat to the needy citizens, and many other precautions have been planned. In addition, there may be counterfeit money, and our security and gendarmerie units have planned necessary measures against animal theft. Our social solidarity and charity foundations will provide the necessary assistance and support to citizens in economic deprivation due to the Feast of Sacrifice. Also, our district governors will plan and implement necessary precautions for orphans and disadvantaged children to experience the holiday joy’.
