A program was organized in Trabzon regarding the project titled ‘Towards Branding in Alternative Tourism in the Eastern Black Sea region.’ The event, supported by the Eastern Black Sea Development Agency (DOKA), was attended by Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Gürkan Üçüncü, Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya, Yomra Mayor Mustafa Bıyık, Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) Rector Hamdullah Çuvalcı, Eastern Black Sea Health Tourism Association (DOKSAD) President Mustafa Yılmaz, DOKA Secretary General Kemal Akpınar, representatives from TÜRSAB, tourism sector representatives, and guests. The project aims to raise awareness in alternative tourism areas in the Eastern Black Sea region. Mustafa Yılmaz, President of DOKSAD, highlighted the rich natural and cultural potential of the Eastern Black Sea, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and partnership in the project. He expressed belief in the positive impact of the project on the regional economy, employment, and cultural heritage preservation. The project aims to promote and market the region’s alternative tourism opportunities nationally and internationally, develop and diversify unique tourism products and services, encourage entrepreneurship to increase local income from tourism, and enhance sustainable tourism practices to preserve the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım mentioned the potential for year-round tourism in Trabzon beyond the typical three-month period, particularly focusing on winter tourism and health tourism as significant income sources. Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya emphasized the untapped potential of the region, urging for diversification and extension of tourism activities throughout the year. He stressed the importance of breaking out of the current limited tourism scope and leveraging the region’s natural, historical, and cultural assets for broader economic benefits. Kaya underlined the necessity of implementing discussed strategies by competent individuals to realize the full potential of the region’s tourism sector.
