The Ministry of Family and Social Services announced that 2,960 people from Kahramanmaraş applied to the ‘Family Youth Fund’, which was implemented as a pilot project in the earthquake zone. The project, initiated with the vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, aims to support and strengthen the institution of the family and protect young people against social risks. Within the scope of the project, couples whose applications are approved are provided with a 48-month interest-free loan support of 150,000 Turkish Liras, repayable after 2 years. In order for young people to apply to this fund, they need to benefit from the pre-marriage and post-marriage education and counseling services provided by the ministry. According to the announcement made by Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, the payments from the Family and Youth Fund for couples who had their official marriage between April 15-30 started as of April 21. It is emphasized that this project is an important step to strengthen family unity and leave a stronger foundation for future generations. Couples who applied for the fund participate in the trainings organized by the Directorate of Family and Social Services. The trainings are planned according to the marriage dates of the couples. Abdullah Demircik, who attended the training program, said, ‘A marriage costs around 800,000 Turkish Liras, and with this loan, we will at least cover a quarter of it.’ Fatih Tilki also stated, ‘It is a project that will provide great support to newlyweds, thanks to our state.’ Busra Avkatar commented, ‘It is a nice support, after all, we are getting married and we need it; it will be good if we use it wisely.’ The Director of Family and Social Services, Müslüm Ferdi Bozkurt, stated that 2,960 people in the province applied to the project aimed at supporting young couples getting married, and added, ‘We have completed the education and counseling sessions for 866 couples. The education planning for 980 couples is still ongoing. Today, we completed the education process for 142 couples. Last month, payments were made to 150 couples. We are planning to make payments for marriage loans to 252 more couples next month.’
