Winners have been announced in the ‘Gelişen Çağ Hackathon’ excitement
The ‘Rising Age Hackathon’, organized in collaboration with the Samsun European Union Information Center operating under the Samsun University and Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been completed. Samsun University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın emphasized the importance of scientific and technological developments in his speech at the event.

The ‘Rising Era Hackathon’, organized in cooperation with Samsun European Union Information Center operating within Samsun University and Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been completed. The Rector of Samsun University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın, emphasized the importance of being strong by producing in scientific and technological fields.
The event, which started at Samsun University Ballıca Campus Nuri Demirağ Conference Hall and lasted for four days, concluded with an award ceremony and innovative projects of young minds. A total of 21 teams and 54 students from Samsun, Ankara, Tokat, and Çorum provinces participated in the Hackathon. Participants developed projects in four thematic areas and presented them to the jury. Teams that scored the highest points in each thematic area won the ‘Hackathon Thematic Area Award’.
Speaking at the event, the Rector of Samsun University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın, thanked Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Samsun European Union Information Center, stating that this event will make valuable contributions to the National Technology Move. Rector Aydın emphasized that we can be strong by producing in scientific and technological fields.
The first-place teams received their awards from the Rector of Samsun University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın. The second and third-place teams were awarded by Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Bilgin, Prof. Dr. Salih Kesgin, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaynak. Plaques were presented to the jury members by Rector Aydın. Certificates of participation were given to the students who participated in the competition by the Secretary-General of Samsun University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adem Soruç, Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Alptekin Durmuşoğlu, and Director of Graduate Education Institute Prof. Dr. Cumhur Türk.
A total of 21 teams competed in the hackathon, which took place in critical areas such as climate change, digitalization in healthcare, data privacy, and aerospace technologies. Teams developed their projects during the event, which started on May 29 and lasted until June 1. On the final day of the event, they presented their projects to the jury consisting of Samsun University academic staff including Prof. Dr. Alptekin Durmuşoğlu, Prof. Dr. Cumhur Türk, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meral Demirtaş, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlyas Karasu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Cömert, Asst. Prof. Mustafa Yusuf Yazıcı, Asst. Prof. Alpaslan Koç as well as Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry Deputy Secretary-General Yasemin Birsen, Middle Black Sea Development Agency Human Resources and Financial Management Director Fatih Ege, and Management Consulting LTD Company Cavit Çakar.
Additionally, the closing meeting and award ceremony were attended by Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry Deputy Secretary-General Yasemin Birsen, jury members, academic staff, numerous students, and participating teams.
