Poetry recital and competition in Bafra

Students who were ranked in the poetry recitation and poetry competition among students organized by Samsun Bafra District Governorship were awarded. District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen, who spoke at the event, bid farewell to the people of Bafra with emotional moments. At the poetry recitation held at Sedde Park area among high schools, love and heroism poems recited by 17 students received great interest from the audience. District National Education Director Mehmet Ali Katipoğlu, in his opening speech, said, ‘Here, 17 courageous young people are competing. 17 students from 17 different schools. We are conducting it in a competition format to add excitement to the poetry recitation. I thank both our students and the teachers who guide them.’ After Katipoğlu’s speech, students made great efforts to be ranked. After reciting their poems, students who were ranked were determined by the jury. Oğuzhan Çakır from Atatürk Anatolian High School ranked first with the poem ‘Beni Yakışına.’ Elif Aydın from Kız Anatolian Imam Hatip High School ranked second with the poem ‘Necid Çöllerinde,’ and Emre Öztürk from Ertuğrul Gazi Anatolian High School ranked third with the poem ‘Şaşırdım Kaldım İşte.’ Mayor Hamit Kılıç, speaking at the award ceremony, said, ‘What matters is coming here and participating in this competition, showing this self-confidence. This is more valuable and precious than anything else. Congratulations to the students who were ranked first, second, and third.’ Governor’s Farewell After the students received their awards, Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen made a farewell speech, stating, ‘Poetry is very important to me. I can find my feelings and thoughts in poems. We come from such a generation. 3 years ago, an idea emerged to pass on the feelings I have to the new generation. I think it will continue in the future. In my opinion, the essence of literary arts is poetry. It is the highest point. Expressing ourselves with few and concise words, showing our emotions, love, grudge, and hatred. It is truly a wonderful feeling. We have a culture that comes from the tradition of poets. But we also call those who sing poems and express them with folk songs lovers. I think love is at the core of poetry. Poetry is the expression of love. Therefore, I truly believe that it is an invaluable asset. This nation has such beautiful words about love, and we can find them in poems and folk songs. I have been serving in Bafra for 5 years. My last days are approaching, the relocation is near. First of all, I want to bid you farewell. Thank you for everything. Goodbye.’ The program ended with a group photo shoot.
