‘Great March of Return’ in Sakarya

Thousands of people in Sakarya gathered for the ‘Great March for Palestine’, where they raised a unified voice. In this march, attended by thousands of people, Israel was condemned with one voice.

In Sakarya, thousands of people marched arm in arm in the Great March for Palestine, raising a unified voice against oppression. Citizens who set off from Sakarya National Garden with chants walked through Cark Avenue to Adapazari Cultural Center (AKM). At the end of the crowded march where Palestinian and Turkish flags were waved and slogans were chanted against Israel, prayers were made for Palestine. The march, where thousands of citizens formed a human flood, was also captured from the air.

‘Images that no heart can endure’
Accompanied by chants, prayers, and anti-Palestinian slogans, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar called on all of Sakarya to unite against oppression. Alemdar, expressing that the conscience of the Zionist regime has hardened, reminded of the thousands of oppressed people who have been killed in front of the eyes of the world since October 7. Mayor Alemdar stated, ‘We witness images that no heart can endure and news that no ear can bear to hear. We refuse to call what has been happening in Gaza since October 7 a war, because it is truly a genocide. Stone-hearted, conscience-melted barbaric killers have been committing a genocide against our brothers for almost 8 months. So far, 15 thousand children, 36 thousand Palestinian brothers have been killed. 81 thousand of our brothers have been injured. More than 2 million people have been forced to migrate. And these massacres have been happening before the eyes of the whole world.’

‘The cause of Palestine belongs to all of us’
Mayor Alemdar noted that they stand against anyone who supports Israel and will not give up the struggle for the Palestinian cause. He said, ‘Jerusalem belongs to all Muslims. Defending Gaza is not only the responsibility of Palestinians. It is time to stop the inhumanity and democracy killer Zionism. Haven’t they done the same thing in the entire Middle East geography? Haven’t they divided and incited brother against brother? We will show our stance against Israel, the baby killer devoid of humanity, whom we curse. Down with Israel and Zionism. We are completely opposed to anyone who supports this terrorist state. The cause of Palestine is everyone’s cause, not just Muslims.’

The program concluded with releasing balloons into the sky in memory of the children who lost their lives in Palestine.
