Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Ankara, M. Amanul Haq, and his companions participating in the ‘Bangladesh Water Lily Day’ held in the Beyşehir district of Konya created colorful scenes by joining the students in the choir and dancing during the folk song performance.
Ambassador Haq of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, along with family members and consulate officials, visited the Beyşehir district of Konya to attend the events organized in the district.
Attending the ‘Bangladesh Water Lily Day’ traditionally organized within the scope of spring activities by the Beyşehir Culture and Tourism Association, Ambassador Haq and his companions visited the water lily garden by participating in a boat tour on the shore of Lake Beyşehir in Çiftlik Mahallesi.
Accompanied by his spouse in water lily flower-patterned outfits, Haq and his companions took a boat to the garden, where they were amazed by the water lilies and took souvenir photos with the flowers. Haq and his companions also planted tree seedlings by the lakeside. Their next visit was to the historical Eşrefoğlu Mosque.
At the Spring Activities organized at the Beyşehir Lake Administration and Visitor Center, Mustafa Büyükkafalı, the President of the Beyşehir Culture and Tourism Association, emphasized that the water lily flower is the national symbol of Bangladesh and expressed their happiness in hosting Ambassador M. Amanul Haq and his Bangladeshi guests in Beyşehir.
Beyşehir Mayor Adil Bayındır also stated, ‘We consider ourselves brothers with Bangladesh. Our love will continue forever.’
Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Turkey, Amanul Haq, mentioned in his speech that the brotherly ties between Bangladesh and Turkey already exist, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of government relations between Turkey and Bangladesh. Haq expressed, ‘We realized that we are not in a foreign country but with our brothers when we came here. Bangladesh gained independence after a long and arduous struggle, so any symbol belonging to Bangladesh is very important to us. One of these symbols is the water lily flower I am wearing. We are very happy, and our whole delegation is here with me. We already see the Turkish people as the closest to Bangladesh. Being here today with the most beautiful people of Beyşehir, in such a beautiful environment, in such a beautiful event is delightful.’
After the speeches, Beyşehir Mayor Adil Bayındır and Ambassador Haq exchanged various gifts in memory of the occasion. Then, gifts were given to the children who ranked in the photo contest held by the Beyşehir Photography Club for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, and exhibition openings were held. The opening of the Sunny Garden painting workshop exhibition was also realized.
Following this, a music show was performed by the children and youth orchestra and choir. After the choir sang the folk song ‘erik dalı,’ Ambassador Haq and his Bangladeshi companions, along with Mayor Adil Bayındır, joined the students who were playing with spoons, creating colorful scenes as they danced together.
