The Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO) organized a program titled ‘The World of Tomorrow: Knowledge Economy’ by the Economy Commission of the New Generation Industrialist Platform. Economist Erkan Öz, GSO Board Member Bora Tezel, Deputy Secretary General M. Sermest Çapan, members of the New Generation Industrialist Platform, and company representatives participated in the online meeting where topics such as the impact of the knowledge economy on industry, production methods, and cryptocurrencies were discussed in detail. The close relationship between information, technology, and economy, the structural transformations that the knowledge economy brings in all economic activity areas from production to marketing, and the future of the increasingly popular cryptocurrency market in our country as well as globally were among the topics addressed during the informative meeting. Prior to the meeting, GSO Board Member Bora Tezel stated that there are changes and transformation processes in many fields both globally and in Turkey, emphasizing the importance of the knowledge economy in shaping the future. Tezel mentioned that today, the transformations in production, industry, and all aspects of life are viewed from a different perspective, highlighting the rapid changes and advancements happening in every sector. Economist Erkan Öz, in his speech during the meeting, highlighted that production methods have been undergoing constant change and transformation from past to present, and emphasized that the importance of this issue will be even more felt in the future. He mentioned that ‘Money will change its form in the future just like it did in the past’ and gave the example of digital currencies, stating that cryptocurrencies are becoming more widespread day by day depending on advancing technology. Öz described the knowledge economy as ‘organizing production with information’, giving the example of the Linux operating system. He explained that production decisions in the knowledge economy are made by those who possess knowledge, data, and know-how. Areas where the knowledge economy will progress include 3D printers, industry, nanotechnology, robots, energy production technologies, artificial intelligence, and copying human thoughts and consciousness. He emphasized that this process is long-term and does not happen overnight. Defense industry will also witness significant developments, with production using 3D printers. Additionally, there will be a higher demand for energy with the advancement of artificial intelligence, which consumes large amounts of energy. He expressed gratitude to the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry New Generation Industrialist Platform and all participants for this important program that closely concerns our future.
