Kozan Mayor Mustafa Atlı stated that the municipality’s debt is 301 million Turkish Lira, and mentioned that ‘It was revealed that the municipality distributed 10 thousand tons of gravel and sand during the election week.’ Mayor Atlı evaluated the previous term by meeting with the press members. During the assessment meeting, Atlı stated that the municipality has a debt of 301 million TL, and said, ‘We will be transparent during our 5-year term. Serving the youth in Kozan will be prioritized. Investments suitable for Kozan’s development and history will be made.’ Atlı emphasized that he does not find it appropriate from a political ethics perspective to remove the municipality’s door and hang debts, and he added, ‘Kozan Municipality’s current debt is 160 million TL. Imar Limited company’s debt is 141 million TL. There are debts due to solar energy loans and to tradesmen. Our income statement includes the revenues of our municipality and our business revenues. The reasons for the losses of the municipality’s operating businesses were determined in a short time, and as of this month, we have started to turn them into profit. Despite the lack of significant services and projects in Kozan, debts have increased significantly starting from the 10th month. I said during the elections, ‘Elections cannot be won through sand trade.’ Between March 26 and March 30, 10,250 tons of gravel were extracted.’ Atlı mentioned that the efforts to modernize the facilities owned by Kozan Municipality are rapidly ongoing, and said, ‘We will take rapid steps towards making Kozan a district that is in demand in Adana rather than losing population and attracting investors’ attention. We continue our shelter maintenance, health improvement, and rehabilitation efforts for street animals. Sterilization works are also being carried out.’ Atlı announced that due to the coincidence of the June 2 Liberation Day celebrations in Kozan with the YKS exams this year, only official ceremonies will be held, and there will be no noisy celebrations.
