Nearly 1 million saplings are produced annually

About 1 million seedlings are produced annually at the Adıyaman Forest Nursery Directorate to expand forested areas. Located at the Adıyaman-Kahta Highway in the Hasancık Area, the Adıyaman Forest Nursery Directorate meticulously produces 40 different types of seedlings, which are planted in forested areas, rural regions, or areas where green spaces are needed. Emphasizing that they produce approximately close to 1 million seedlings each year, the Director of Adıyaman Forest Nursery, Ahmet Ünal, highlighted that they work tirelessly for a greener Adıyaman. Mentioning that they produce 40 different types of seedlings including fruit, non-fruit, and ornamental plants such as pine, olive, almond, pomegranate, rose, juniper, pistachio, Director Ünal stated, ‘We have an area of approximately 118,931 square meters. Within this area, although the capacity is actually higher, we produce between 700,000 and 1 million seedlings annually according to the need. We have around 40 types of seedlings. We grow seedlings from seeds, as well as cuttings. We have needle-type seedlings, like the ones you see in pines, and broad-leaved types like plane trees, mulberries, almonds, etc. We cultivate about 40 different types of seedlings. We also have fruit, non-fruit, and ornamental plants for landscaping. We produce roses, pistachios, cypresses, and various types of cedars, along with ornamental plants like lilac, Judas trees, etc. We produce around 40 different types of seedlings suitable for the regional climate and soil conditions here. One of our main goals is the continuity and multiplication of forests. Ensuring that our forests are passed on to the next generations is one of the main objectives of our General Directorate of Forestry. We produce the necessary types of seedlings for all afforestation, soil conservation, erosion control projects. Hatice Canlı, who works at the Adıyaman Forest Nursery Directorate, stated, ‘We grow seedlings from sowing seeds to filling bags and caring for the seedlings. We also do grafting.’
