President Deviren emphasizes cooperation

Gemlik Mayor Şükrü Deviren, in his opening speech, emphasized collective wisdom and inter-institutional cooperation stating “Gemlik is truly an exemplary district with its urban history and human fabric. The history of Gemlik dates back to the 10,000s BC. When you go to the 35 neighborhoods of our city, you can see all of this history. Go to Fındıcak, there is a different history there. On the other side, in Narlı, there is a different history. But it is slipping through our fingers. We want Gemlik to be a living city, constantly developing. In order to increase the quality of Gemlik, we must increase the number of white-collar workers here. This is possible with social facilities. To be able to truly have an Olive Festival, we will come together with professional organizations and producers to determine the best. This is a beginning. A beginning to preserve the existing values.

“We need to preserve historical values”

Following President Deviren, Gemlik District Governor Hasan Göç emphasized that the city is an important gateway to the outside world in terms of industry and also stated the importance of preserving its historical and touristic features. Governor Göç said: “We need to preserve the values that come from Gemlik’s history, culture, and nature. While doing this, we should be a little hasty. Witnesses of the past may not be there in ten years. We need to reach out to them. We need to benefit from their experiences and memories. Tourism, nature, historical values, and cultural values are very valuable for Bursa.”

After the speeches, the working groups started their discussions. The topics discussed during the workshop will be compiled into a final document in the coming days and shared.
