In Diyarbakır, the ‘Reading Festival’ event organized by the adult literacy course students of Rabia-Tül Adeviyye Women’s Culture and Art Center ADEM-2 was held with great enthusiasm. It was noted that for the first time, a reading festival event was organized within the Family Support Center (ADEM). Within the framework of the literacy campaign conducted by Rabia-Tül Adeviyye Women’s Culture and Art Center, 120 women who received education successfully completed their courses and earned certificates. The women who attended the literacy courses experienced the pride of successfully completing the education process. The event held in the Yenişehir district was attended by Diyarbakır Deputy Director of Social Services Faysal Yaşa, Yenişehir Social Solidarity Foundation Deputy Gülsen Gençdal, ADEM-2 Project Coordinator Serap Lale Işık, literacy teacher Duygu Doruk İnceoğlu, and the course participant women. ADEM-2 Project Coordinator Serap Lale Işık, in her opening speech at the event, stated that they achieved a 94% increase in literacy compared to the previous year with the literacy courses they opened in the Şehitlik neighborhood of Diyarbakır. Işıkhan said, ‘As of January 2024, we have graduated a total of 120 students from literacy courses at ADEM-2. 20 of them have earned a second-level literacy certificate. According to the data on adult education provided by the Ministry of National Education, there have been 12,129 literacy courses opened, and among these, literacy courses rank sixth. The courses we opened have made a significant contribution to increasing the literacy rate by 94% within the framework of Diyarbakır province compared to the previous year.’ The event concluded with a certificate ceremony after poetry recitations and performances.
