The 571st anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul was celebrated with enthusiasm in Fatih

A celebration program was organized by the Fatih Municipality in Istanbul for the 571st anniversary of the conquest. The event, which started with the Conquest March, continued with a concert titled ‘Nevbeti Uyandırmak’ by Yücel Arzen. Arzen’s works brought the excitement of the conquest to the attendees of the concert. Istanbul’s conquest was joyfully celebrated in Fatih on its 571st anniversary. As part of the celebrations, the Fatih Municipality organized the Conquest March. Starting in front of Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, the march ended at Sarachane Monument Park. Following the march, a concert titled ‘Nevbeti Uyandırmak’ by Yücel Arzen took place at Yedikule Fortress. Citizens attending the concert celebrated the conquest of Istanbul with enthusiasm. Istanbul Deputy Governor Hüseyin Yılmaz, Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Zeynel Abidin Okul, and many citizens attended the concert. Fatih Mayor Turan, speaking about the conquest of Istanbul, stated, ‘We will commemorate the 571st anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul, one of the most glorious victories in our history, at Yedikule Fortress, which is one of the most important symbols of the conquest and a legacy of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han. We are building a mosque here. We are not doing this to show our religiosity. This mosque is the first mosque mentioned in historical records as the first mosque of the conquest known as Fatih Mosque and must be built in accordance with the conservation board decisions. We are grateful to God for doing this through a donor. May the souls of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han, who opened a new era and closed an era, and all our glorious ancestors be in peace. We consider it an honor to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors, to resemble them, to be like them. Fatih district is the essence, spirit, and everything of Istanbul. While serving our Fatih, our greatest strength and motivation lie in the conquest spirit that our ancestors spread on these lands, and we draw our motivation from it. We strive to act with the same determination and perseverance.’ Turan Engin Şahin, a citizen who watched the program, said, ‘We came here for the event organized by our municipality. There are always events happening. We value our history and are aware of it. Events are taking place, and history is being valued once again. The value we give to our history is visible from every city and district. We came here to listen to the concert.’
