Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş stated, ‘The upcoming period is not only a time when a multipolar world system will be established in world politics, but also an important historical period for Turkey. Turkey will become a strong country in terms of economy, a strong country in national defense industry, and a country with infrastructures that can compete globally.’ The exhibition and symposium ‘Heritage Beyond Time; Silk Road Exhibition and Symposium,’ jointly organized by the Human and Civilization Movement and Konya Metropolitan Municipality, took place at Bahariye Mevlevihanesi in Eyüpsultan. The symposium opening was attended by Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş, Istanbul Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Coşkun Yılmaz, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, and academicians.
“The Silk Road is a heritage that has advanced the places it passed not only economically but in many aspects.” Speaking at the program, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said, ‘The Silk Road, which brings together languages, cultures, civilizations, and beliefs, is a heritage of humanity that has advanced the places it passed not only economically but in many aspects. Throughout history, this road passing through the regions where Turks lived has played a very effective role in the process of our dear nation moving from Central Asia towards the West. The Silk Road, which extends from China to Europe, has enlivened a vast geography, enabling people, artists, thinkers, and the works they produced to be transmitted to all corners of the world.’
“We know that a new era has begun in terms of international relations and world balances.” Mentioning the emergence of new balances in the world, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş said, ‘Starting from Central Asia and reaching the Anatolian continent and extending to the Balkans, we know that the Silk Road’s cultural transmission of solidarity in the broad geography has great historical significance in the field of scientific transmissions. But today, especially within the day, with America burying the bipolar system and exiting Afghanistan, we know that a new era has begun in terms of international relations and world balances. The new era is now a period in which a multipolar world is being established. In the establishment of this multipolar world, the activation of different cultural and civilizational basins is inevitable and even unavoidable.’
Speaking about the emergence of the Turkish world as a new power center, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Kurtulmuş said, ‘The emergence of the Turkish world as a new power center is not a threat for any region, on the contrary, it is an opportunity for ensuring world peace. In this context, increasing relations among the Turkish world should not only be a political priority but also increasing these relations as a bridge should be one of our primary areas of interest. In this context, there is a political aspect related to the Turkish Islamic world. But at the same time, we see that the Silk Road project, especially as it can be included in China and other Asian countries, has the potential to become a global major project. It is clear that there are structures that can integrate the Silk Road project that will include the Turkish world with the Belt and Road Initiative of China.’
“Turkey will become a strong country in terms of economy.” Kurtulmuş expressed that Turkey will continue to be strong, stating, ‘The upcoming period is not only a time when a multipolar world system will be established in world politics, but also an important historical period for Turkey. The second century of the Republic, which we have put forward as the New Turkey Century, cannot be limited to just one area. Turkey will become a strong country in terms of economy, a strong country in national defense industry, and a country with infrastructures that can compete globally. Above all these and perhaps in a way that will bring all these out: Turkey must definitely place cultural, artistic, literary, and aesthetic values at the forefront.’ After the speeches, gifts were presented to the academicians and artists who had works at the symposium. Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş later toured the exhibition.
