Dursun Özbek: ‘Hopefully we will reach the 5th star at the end of the season’

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek emphasized the support shown by the community and fans, stating, ‘Hopefully, we will achieve the 5th star at the end of the season. Everyone should raise their flags for this year and prepare their flags for next year.’ President Dursun Özbek and his administration, who were re-elected at the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Galatasaray, received their certificates at a ceremony. Following the ceremony, a visit was made to the grave of Ali Sami Yen, the founder of the yellow-red club, in Feriköy, where prayers were offered. The visit was attended by Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek, Galatasaray Council President Aykutalp Derkan, and council members. Later, a visit was paid to the grave of Honorary President of Beşiktaş Süleyman Seba, where prayers were recited. Following the visits, President Özbek, speaking to the press, stated that it was an important day, saying, ‘May 29, 1453, the day of the conquest of Istanbul by the world conqueror Fatih Sultan Mehmet. I commemorate him with mercy. On the same day, we received our certificates. As the Istanbul team, we are very pleased that this coincidence happened. After the certificate ceremony, we visited the grave of our founder and number one member Ali Sami Yen in Galatasaray High School. We also visit our brother Süleyman Seba every time we come. May his soul rest in peace. Two legendary football figures who led the love and development of football in Turkey, may Allah have mercy on both of them. From now on, we especially want Turkish football to follow the path drawn by Ali Sami Yen and Süleyman Seba, and to take inspiration from what they did. We are starting a new season. Our goal this season is the 5th star. Together with my friends, we will fight for the 5th star. Not only in football but also in amateur branches, we will do everything possible to raise our standards higher this season. I thank the members who showed their favor in the election to manage a club that has become a world brand, the great fans who do not withhold their support from Galatasaray, and everyone who loves Galatasaray for their support. If we continue to show the same support this season, we will hopefully achieve the 5th star at the end of the season. Everyone should raise their flags for this year and prepare their flags for next year.’ When reminded of the visit to Süleyman Seba, Özbek said, ‘Two great figures who served Turkish sports, without them, Turkish sports might not have seen these days.
