Under the leadership of the Department of Architecture at Alanya University, the 7th International Conference on Current Issues in Architecture and Urbanism (ICCAUA 2024) took place hosted by Alanya University. Experts from around the world participated in the conference, where they shared the latest developments in architecture and urban design with the participants. The conference also made significant contributions to the promotion of Alanya.
The conference was chaired by Associate Professor Dr. Hourakhsh Ahmad Nia from Alanya University’s Department of Architecture. The conference was attended by Alanya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner, Head of the Department of Architecture at Alanya University Dr. Elif Gizem, Prof. Dr. İslam El Ghonaimy from the University of Bahrain (International Coordinator of the Conference), Gülderen Toprak from the Chamber of Architects Antalya Branch in Alanya, and Prof. Dr. José Manuel Pagés Madrigal, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the East Africa International University (Deputy Conference Chair), along with many other scientists. The distinguished speakers of the conference shared groundbreaking research on various aspects of architecture and urban design with the participants.
Prof. Kulbhushan Jain from Cept University in India highlighted the importance of integrating cultural and emotional elements into architectural design in his presentation titled ‘Expression of the Abstract in Architecture’. Prof. Dr. Senem Zeybekoğlu Sadri from Birmingham City University shared the importance of sustainable and community-oriented urban renewal projects and successful practices in this field in her presentation titled ‘Revitalizing Cities with Community-Oriented Initiatives’. Dr. Nima Keivani from Iran Keivani Architects provided a comprehensive evaluation on contemporary architectural trends and their societal impacts. Prof. Dr. Susanne Charlesworth from Coventry University detailed the role of architecture in promoting sustainability and urban resilience, discussing how these topics can become more effective in future city planning. Prof. Dr. Snehal Nagarsheth from Anant National University in India, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bernard L H Saw from Tunku Abdul Rahman University in Malaysia, and Prof. Dr. Shahin Keynoush from Girne American University shared their various perspectives and innovative approaches on architecture and design with the participants. The conference provided an important platform for discussing innovative ideas and sustainable practices in the field of architecture. Experts provided valuable insights into the future directions of architecture, inspiring the participants.
A Different Perspective on Urban Design
Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner, the Rector of Alanya University, shared his views on the 7th International Conference on Current Issues in Architecture and Urbanism held this year. Expressing his satisfaction in hosting many esteemed scientists from reputable universities around the world at the university, Prof. Dr. Güner stated, ‘This significant event brought together scientists from all around the world to address current issues in architecture and urban design.
