The genocide of Israel towards Palestine in Gemlik district of Bursa was condemned. Following a march with intense participation from the people of Gemlik, a rally was organized.
To put an end to Israel’s inhumane attacks on Gaza since October 7, Gemlik Volunteer Organizations Platform led a support march to Gaza with the participation of 17 civil society organizations.
Starting from Engelsiz Kafe and proceeding through Istiklal Avenue to 15 July Democracy Square, the march, attended by hundreds of people carrying Turkish and Palestinian flags, denounced Israel’s oppression with banners reading ‘Gemlik Stands with Palestine,’ ‘Say No to Genocide, Let the Children Live, Israel, the Genocidal, Israel, the Baby Killer, Ceasefire Now, Freedom for Palestine, Palestine Is Occupied, Raise Your Voice for Palestine.’ Palestinian melodies were played from a sound system-equipped vehicle during the march.
Gemlik Mayor Şükrü Deviren, Gemlik Chief of Police Mustafa Kılıç, Gemlik District Mufti Mustafa Akdağ, representatives of political parties and civil society organizations, law faculty students, and many citizens participated in the march.
Following the march, a rally began at 15 July Democracy Square with the recitation of the Quran by Veysel Kabul.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Ebubekir Armağan stated that Israel’s genocide and brutality in Gaza must stop immediately. Armağan said, ‘Water, food, and medicine are running out in Gaza. The aid passing through the Rafah Border Crossing to Gaza is far below the needs. Water, food, medicine, fuel, and other humanitarian aid materials must be delivered to Gaza properly.’
