Balıkesir Governor Ismail Ustaoğlu continued his meetings with neighborhood headmen by proceeding to Ayvalık District. At the meeting held at Cunda Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Governor Ismail Ustaoğlu was accompanied by Major General Nurettin Alkan, District Gendarmerie Commander, Ayvalık District Governor Hasan Yaman, Provincial Police Chief Hasan Yiğit, Coast Guard North Aegean Group Commander Emrah Kadir Çakır, Ayvalık Mayor Mesut Ergin, regional and provincial directors of institutions, headmen, and relevant parties attended. Ayvalık District Governor Hasan Yaman, in his opening speech at the meeting, provided information about the ongoing and planned activities. Ayvalık Mayor Mesut Ergin also expressed that cooperation with headmen in the district will be carried out during the meeting. Information was also provided about the activities and projects carried out by the police and gendarmerie in the district. Governor Ismail Ustaoğlu, evaluating at the end of the meeting, emphasized the importance of headmen being the eyes of public institutions in the neighborhoods. Ustaoğlu stressed the importance of cooperation with law enforcement, gendarmerie, and all other units for the peace and security of neighborhoods, stating, ‘We value your service with the awareness that you are representatives of our public institutions since the day you were elected. We want headmen to be aware of all kinds of problems in their areas of responsibility and to inform us. It is very important for you to be in consultation with relevant institutions in ensuring public safety and order. We expect your support especially in warning elderly citizens against telephone fraud. We want you to explain this fraud method and make necessary warnings by visiting citizens individually if needed.’ Governor Ismail Ustaoğlu, reminding that Ayvalık District is an important tourism center, stated that there will be a significant increase in the population in the gulf region with the summer season, emphasizing the need to carry out necessary works for guests to have a peaceful and secure holiday. Ustaoğlu said that sensitivity should be shown in every kind of issue such as security, order, and traffic to ensure that guests leave the region happily. Governor Ustaoğlu noted that very successful operations have been carried out in the fight against drugs in Balıkesir, stating that drug traffickers have no room to move. Ustaoğlu expressed, ‘The support of our headmen is a big part of success in the fight against drugs, which is our most important agenda item. Thanks to your sensitivity and fast communication, we will continue to achieve successful results. Families need to have the highest level of sensitivity on this issue. Families should closely monitor any changes in their children and prevent them from falling into this swamp.’ Ustaoğlu also mentioned that the risk of forest fires increases in the summer season and added that necessary precautions have been taken to prevent forest fires. He asked for the decisions taken to be closely monitored by the headmen and implemented in the field, as well as to warn the citizens. Governor Ustaoğlu also mentioned the identification of needy citizens in their neighborhoods and informing the District Governorship. Wishing newly elected headmen success in their duties, Governor Ustaoğlu also wished success to the ongoing headmen in their work.
