The walls of the historical castle were colored with the colorful kites of the students
As part of the Museums Day activities in Bayburt, archaeological excavation activity, a trip to get to know our history, and a kite festival were organized for primary school students at the historical Bayburt Castle to introduce cultural assets. For the kite festival, students were asked to bring their own kites, and they had the opportunity to fly their kites in the castle’s courtyard. The event aimed to raise awareness about the cultural heritage of Bayburt and to create a fun and educational environment for the students.

As part of the Museums Day activities in Bayburt, archaeological excavation activity, a tour to get to know our history, and a kite festival were organized for primary school students at the historical Bayburt Castle to introduce cultural assets. The walls of the castle, which hosted the kite festival, were colored with the colorful kites of the students. Sixty students flew their kites at the historical Bayburt Castle, which holds the title of Turkey’s third largest castle, and had a fun and enjoyable day. The event, organized in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Culture, Tourism, and Museums, allowed students to fly kites in the historical castle. First, students who conducted archaeological excavation work had a different experience, while students who toured the castle had the opportunity to closely examine the cultural heritage of the castle. Then, as the students flew their kites under the supervision of their teachers and Museum Directorate officials, the kite festival became a colorful sight, and the happiness of the students was evident in their eyes. One student named Nil Ecrin Eraslan, who expressed that she would experience flying a kite for the first time at the historical castle and was very excited, said, ‘I will fly a kite for the first time at the historical castle. I am very excited and very happy.’ Another student named Nisa Selin Pekmezci, who said that she had an unforgettable day with a beautiful event, stated, ‘It was very nice and enjoyable to fly kites at Bayburt’s Çinimaçin Castle. We had fun and learned new information. I thank those who taught us the intricacies of flying kites.’ Another student named Yusuf Berkay Bedir, who expressed that he had a pleasant day with his friends, thanked those involved in organizing the event and said, ‘We flew kites at the historical castle, played games with our friends. We had fun and were very happy. I thank everyone who provided us with this opportunity.’ Art Historian Demet Eryılmaz, who works at the Museum Directorate, noted that they brought together 60 students at the kite festival to introduce cultural assets, ‘As part of the May 18 Museums Day, we organized an excavation and kite festival at Bayburt Castle to make our children love and get to know cultural assets. Today, we provided 60 children with an excavation experience here. With the kite festival, we tried to give them an unforgettable day in the castle.’
