Sacrificial butchering services will be provided in areas designated by the Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry, in slaughter areas designated by municipalities, in private slaughterhouses, and in facilities where sacrificial animals are sold.’
‘An average of 3,500 to 5,000 sacrificial sales are made’ President Bağlamış, stating that sales will be at the same level as last year, said, ‘The prices are increasing, but due to the increase in all food products, our citizens do not give up on sacrificing. We anticipate that sales will be at the same level as last year on average. In our city, an average of 3,500 to 5,000 sales are made for small and large cattle. We achieved these figures last year. Hopefully, we anticipate that sales will be made based on the same figures this year as well.’
‘It creates a livestock shortage in Turkey’ Ercan Aras, President of the Kayseri Red Meat Producers Association, stated that there is a livestock shortage in Turkey. Aras said, ‘In Turkey, approximately 950,000 to 1 million cattle are slaughtered during the Eid al-Adha, and nearly 3 million small cattle are slaughtered. The slaughter performed during this Eid al-Adha period creates a livestock shortage in Turkey. The Meat and Milk Institution has taken some measures for this situation. There is a deficiency in our livestock count. For this reason, approximately 850,000 animals were sourced from abroad. In the agreement made this year, 650,000 animals will be supplied from abroad to our producers. The price of sacrificial animals has not surged excessively. Currently, it may seem high in the eyes of our consumers, but when we look at inflation, there is an increase of around 200-300% in everything. There is also a 100% increase in meat prices. This is a normal increase.’ Akgün Ergül, President of the Kayseri Veterinary Chamber, stated that animals with diseases are identified, and their slaughter as sacrificial animals is prevented.
