The city of princes, Amasya, is planning to include the prince kebab, which is aimed to be registered with a geographical indication, in the main menus of restaurants. Governor Yılmaz Doruk of Amasya, who prepared the prince kebab in a mobile kitchen with his wife and Mayor Turgay Sevindi during Turkish Cuisine Week, called on restaurants and hotels to introduce this delicious dish to their customers.
Governor Doruk: ‘Customers won’t say no to the prince kebab’
Governor Doruk, who stated that they helped in the preparation of the prince kebab, which is cooked on a tray using diced meat, eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables, and showed their skills, said, ‘Customers won’t say no to the four-person prince kebab that will be served in restaurants and hotels. They will like it. It is a very high-quality dish. I think it would be very appropriate for it to be included in restaurants and hotels.’
Many flavors continuing the palace cuisine can be found in Amasya
Pointing out the influences of the palace cuisine in Amasya, where Ottoman princes gained experience before ascending the throne, Doruk said, ‘Tourists coming to our city have the opportunity to see many flavors, desserts, and kebabs that are a continuation of the palace cuisine.’
Mayor Sevindi showcased his skills
Mayor Sevindi, who showed his kitchen mastery by quickly chopping onions with a knife, said, ‘My father’s profession is cooking. I have a skill that stems from that.’ Mayor Sevindi emphasized that they will make efforts to promote Amasya’s geographical indication regional products nationally and internationally.
Governor Doruk’s wife Meral Doruk said they were happy to prepare the meal together.
During the event organized with the support of Amasya University, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the Amasya Chamber of Craftsmen, and the Misket Eller Women’s Initiative Production Cooperative, geographical indication products of the city such as Amasya olive oil, stuffed broad beans, Amasya pastry, and ‘Forget Me Not’ dessert were presented to food enthusiasts at stands. The Amasya Municipality band added color to the event with a concert. Within the framework of Turkish Cuisine Week, a regional food competition featuring geographically indicated broad bean dolma will be held on Saturday, May 25th.
