The 100th anniversary of the friendship between the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of the Netherlands will be celebrated on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the Hierapolis Ancient City Theater in the Pamukkale region of Denizli. A concert will be performed by the chamber orchestras of the two countries together, creating a joint harmony.

The Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, consisting of members from the world-renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Netherlands, and the distinguished members of the Capital University Orchestra Academic Başkent from Turkey will perform together in Denizli. This significant concert, organized by the Pamukkale Philharmonic Society with the contributions of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ankara, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, and the Governorship of Denizli, will be a gift to the cultural and artistic life and promotion of the city as well as the friendship between the two countries. Supported by the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation and Başkent University, the concert hosted by the Pamukkale Philharmonic Society in collaboration with Locksbridge Management will take place.

Conducted by the concertmaster Michael Waterman, with Niek Baar on violin, soprano Fenna Ograjensek as the soloist, and under the direction of Orhun Orhon who has also been instrumental in the realization of the event, the concert will feature performances of J.S. Bach’s ‘Air’ from Suite No. 3 in D major, F. Schubert’s songs, E. Elgar’s Op.20 in E minor Serenade for Strings, J.S. Bach’s BWV 1042 Violin Concerto, Anton Bruckner’s ‘Locus Iste’, and M. Ravel’s M.76. The concert, eagerly awaited by art enthusiasts, will take place in a completely different ambiance with the new Hierapolis nighttime illumination recently put into operation by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
