Istanbul Governorship made a statement regarding the incidents that occurred both in the dressing room corridors and on the field after the Galatasaray-Fenerbahce derby played in the 37th week of the Super Lig. The Governorship stated that legal action has been taken against 5 individuals who attempted to assault the Galatasaray Stadium Director. In the statement made by the Istanbul Governorship regarding the issue, it was noted that ‘Speculative broadcasts have been observed in various media outlets regarding the incidents that occurred during the Galatasaray – Fenerbahce match played on Sunday, 19.05.2024 at 19.00. The events that occurred after the match between our country’s two distinguished clubs developed as follows: – All security measures regarding the Galatasaray – Fenerbahce football match were taken by our Istanbul Security Directorate or coordinated with private security units. – During the match, approximately 51,000 spectators of the home team and 2,318 spectators of the away team took their seats in the stands. – A total of 35 individuals (for actions such as throwing foreign objects, unauthorized entry of spectators, misbehavior, threats, and insults) who did not comply with Law No. 6222 were processed during the match. – After the end of the match, the internal security measures taken at the stadium were terminated upon the instruction of the Match Security Officer. – Fenerbahce Club President Mr. Ali Koc arrived at the stadium 70 minutes after the end of the match at 22.10, congratulated the players in the dressing room, and then decided to change his mind suddenly to exit the stadium and entered the field by bypassing the special security ensuring the stadium’s security. – The delegation accompanying Fenerbahce Club President tried to open a flag and take photos after entering the field, and physical intervention was made to the Galatasaray Club Stadium Director A.C. who tried to prevent this. – Upon the incident, our security forces responsible for ensuring the security of the Fenerbahce Football Team entered the field and intervened in the incidents. – After the incidents inside the field ended, the departure of the Fenerbahce team from the stadium was provided at 22.52. – Following the instructions of the Press and Sports Prosecutor after the match, legal action has been taken against 5 individuals who attempted to assault the Stadium Director A.C. – Identity determination studies of the individuals involved in the incidents inside the stadium are ongoing. – Administrative and judicial investigations regarding the issue are ongoing, and an investigation has been initiated against the personnel found negligent. – The judicial investigation is being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
