Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has started to provide ‘low dose laser therapy’ service at the Animal Hospital. OMÜ, which is the 2nd among veterinary faculties in Turkey and the 1st in the region, has started treating pets with the K-LASER veterinary low dose laser device under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Didem Pekmezci from the Department of Internal Medicine, accompanied by Assistant Professor Ümit Özcan and Research Assistant Dr. Zeynep Nurselin Kot. Pekmezci stated ‘Low dose laser therapy provides great comfort to our animal friends.’ Prof. Dr. Pekmezci, emphasizing the positive impact of the rapid progress of technology in the health sector on veterinary practices, said ‘Veterinary low dose laser therapy (low-level laser therapy-LLLT) is an innovative treatment method that has been particularly prominent in recent years and successfully applied in animal health. This therapy offers significant advantages in accelerating healing processes, reducing pain, and controlling inflammation. Therefore, low dose laser therapy provides great comfort to our animal friends.’ Prof. Dr. Didem Pekmezci emphasized that they are the second among veterinary faculties in the country and the first in the region as the pioneering center for this innovative treatment method, which is preferred to improve the quality of life of animals, accelerate healing processes, and increase treatment effectiveness. She stated, ‘Veterinary low dose laser therapy is used in many cases such as acute/chronic pain management, dermatological problems, inflammatory diseases, pancreatitis, cystitis, feline chronic gingivostomatitis, and wound healing in our patients. We are proud to be the second among Veterinary Faculties in our country and the first in our region as the pioneering center.’
