Since the first day of the bombardment, Beşir Foundation, Kızılay, and AFAD have been continuing their support to Gaza. With the blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza since October 7, 2023, the need for basic living materials is increasing. Beşir Foundation, in collaboration with Kızılay and AFAD, continues to provide support to the region. Beşir Foundation loaded a total of 600 tons of food aid packages onto the humanitarian aid ship prepared for Gaza under the leadership of Kızılay. Basic needs and food packages departing from all cities of Turkey were gathered at Beşir Foundation’s warehouse in Mersin and transferred to the Kızılay Goodness Ship from Mersin Port. The 9th Goodness Ship has arrived at El-Arish Port. The 9th Goodness Ship departed from Mersin Port on May 6 and docked at El-Arish Port. After a 55-hour journey over the Mediterranean, the port of El-Arish in Northern Egypt was reached. The Egyptian Red Crescent continues its efforts to deliver the aid sent to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing. The Kızılay 9th Goodness Ship, prepared with the contributions of all NGOs in Turkey and Beşir Foundation, includes 3774 tons of basic necessities, including baby products and sleeping bags. Beşir Foundation President Fatih Sarıyar expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the Gaza aid, stating that the support will continue. Sarıyar, who is also a sociologist, stated the following in his message: ‘The need for humanitarian aid in Gaza, where people struggle with hunger, thirst, and deadly living conditions, is increasing day by day. The people of Gaza, who cannot meet their basic needs and are under blockade, are forced to continue their struggle for life under challenging conditions. Turkey aims to meet the needs in the region through the Goodness Ship movements and has delivered the 9th aid shipment to El-Arish Port. As Beşir Foundation, with organizations in every city and district of Turkey, we loaded a support package totaling 600 tons onto the ship, equivalent to over 60 trucks, consisting of basic food and ration supplies, and we aim to continue these aid efforts.’
