As part of the Agricultural Land Use Activation (TAKE) Projects, within the scope of the ‘Widespread Temporary Tomato Production in Areas Above 900 Meters Project’ in Kuyucak district of Aydın, above 900 meters altitude neighborhoods, 200,000 ‘temporary tomato’ seedlings were distributed.
Since 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has been implementing the Agricultural Land Use Activation Project in 81 provinces to increase agricultural production and the production of plant species with high added value in vacant or fallow lands as well as in lands unsuitable for cultivated agriculture by using appropriate techniques. Within this framework, as part of the ‘Widespread Temporary Tomato Production in Areas Above 900 Meters Project’, 200,000 temporary tomato seedlings were distributed to farmers in the high-altitude neighborhoods of Kuyucak district.
During the ceremony, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Altıntaş, stated, ‘To further advance our province of Aydın as a leading province in national agriculture this year, we have implemented 6 TAKE projects with a total budget of 5 million 384 thousand TL, 75% of which is covered by our ministry and 25% by farmer contributions. Within the projects prepared by our Directorate and approved by our ministry; 21,250 fig seedlings, 5,900 chestnut seedlings, 12,000 pickling pepper seedlings, sunflower seeds for 1,500 decares of land, sorghum sudangrass hybrid seeds for 2,000 decares of land, and 275,000 temporary tomato seedlings distribution are included. With these projects, we will distribute certified seedlings and seeds to 1,060 producers in a total of 11 districts. Last year, within the scope of TAKEP, we distributed 150,000 temporary tomato seedlings in Kuyucak district and achieved good results thanks to your efforts. This year, we aim to contribute more to our district’s agriculture with 200,000 seedlings. I wish that the seedlings we will distribute today will bring abundance and prosperity to our district and province as in previous years through the valuable efforts of our producers, and I respectfully greet you.’
The distribution ceremony was attended by Kuyucak District Governor Fehmi Sinan Niyazi, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Altıntaş, Kuyucak District Gendarmerie Commander Lt. Col. Kadir Karaduman, Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ali Rüstem Şanlı, Plant Production and Plant Health Branch Manager Ömer Çiçek, Kuyucak District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Hatice Suzan Yöre, Kuyucak Chamber of Agriculture President Abdullah Sevgi, neighborhood headmen, and many producers.
