Young people in Çekmeköy had a great time at the 19 May concerts

Thousands of citizens participated in the events organized by Çekmeköy Municipality at Güngören Sports and Social Facilities on the occasion of the 19th of May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.

The finale of the events held throughout the day by Çekmeköy Municipality on the 19th of May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day took place with concerts at Güngören Sports and Social Facilities. Celebrations with performances by musicians such as Seyyah, Sattas, and Zeyn’el culminated with Yeni Türkü. The residents of Çekmeköy enjoyed colorful folk songs for hours during the event.

Presenting flowers to Yeni Türkü on behalf of the people of Çekmeköy, Mayor Çerkez stated, ‘Today is the 19th of May, the day the torch of the brightness of the Turkish Republic was lit, the day to commemorate and explain the value that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk showed to our youth to walk in the path he guided. Today in Çekmeköy, we organized various events for our youth. What matters is to understand Atatürk, to explain his works to the youth, to increase the awareness of the value of his principles among people through concerts and events. Today, we met with the public. Our youth had difficulty going to our social cafes as they were too expensive. They had a request. From now on, in all our social cafes, we adjusted the prices according to their requests, to the amounts they can afford. We have students in Çekmeköy in four of our neighborhoods. They had difficulties coming to school. Starting tomorrow, we arranged transportation for them. What matters is to be beneficial to our youth, to provide them with equal opportunities, to prepare them for the future fully equipped, knowledgeable, and skillful. This is our duty.’

Aynur Doğan, one of the attendees of the concert, said, ‘For the first time in years, we are celebrating such a beautiful holiday in Çekmeköy. We are very proud and honored. I believe that the Republic will be eternal and will continue.’
