The revetment works continue in the Gulcemal Project, which started 9 years ago with filling works on the Beşirli coastline in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon. The construction work of the Coastal Filling Project (Gulcemal), which is among the Vision 2019 Projects of the then Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Orhan Fevzi Gumrukcuoglu, has been ongoing for 9 years. In order to create a new living space that will breathe life into Trabzon, revetment of a 250-acre area was completed in the project that started filling works in the Beşirli location of the Black Sea Coast Road in 2015. While revetment works continue in the remaining 500 acres, Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Metin Genc explained the current situation of the project. Mayor Genc, stating that they will create a living space that will appeal to citizens of all ages, said, ‘Our fellow citizens had a complaint in the past. They said this coastal road was built, an important means of transportation, but our connection with the sea was somewhat cut off. We took steps in some locations regarding this issue, but we want to reach Akyazi starting from Ganita uninterruptedly. Let’s have a coastline and a living space. In this respect, the project we are considering under the name Gulcemal is very important for us. The revetment of a 250-acre area has been completed. Revetment works in the remaining 500-acre area are ongoing. This will be a living space, a regulation area consisting of units that will appeal separately to our children, youth, and elders. You know about the tourism trend in the city’s development. We have a significant number of visitors. They also want such areas. We will bring this to our city this period with a concept where both children will have fun in an amusement park style area and there will be areas to relax and have fun.’
