In Denizli, May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day was celebrated throughout the week with enthusiasm through the events organized by the Metropolitan Municipality. Denizli Metropolitan Municipality brought the excitement of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day to its peak with a special program featuring the powerful voice of Turkish Pop music, Göksel. After the torchlight procession, tens of thousands of Denizli residents gathered in front of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality to fully experience the holiday joy.
Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu and his wife Nilgün Çavuşoğlu, Pamukkale Mayor Ali Rıza Ertemur, Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan, invitees, and tens of thousands of citizens attended the concert program. Göksel, who performed beautiful songs for the people of Denizli, provided unforgettable moments with her powerful voice. The crowded square of thousands of citizens sang along with the emotional and lively songs of the famous artist. Thanking the crowd that did not leave her alone on this beautiful evening, Göksel said, ‘I’m glad you are here, I’m glad to be here. May 19th is a very meaningful day. We are celebrating this honorable, beautiful day together’.
The Republic enthusiasm overflowed in the squares. Speaking at the event, Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan expressed their longing for celebrating the holiday with such enthusiasm in Denizli and thanked everyone who contributed to making this celebration possible. Pamukkale Mayor Ali Rıza Ertemur stated that when he looked at the tens of thousands of citizens filling the square, he saw Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The people of Denizli who participated in the holiday joy thanked Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, who organized the night.
‘Greetings to a pair of blue eyes, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, greetings’ Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu also thanked the citizens who responded to their invitations and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades who played a leading role in the existence of this meaningful day. Mayor Çavuşoğlu said, ‘This is such a beautiful love, enthusiasm, we are all Republic enthusiasts. On May 19th, someone with a tiny boat set sail with a huge heart. In his journey, without ever saying what will happen to me, he set out for Turkey so that the future generations will not be crushed under the boots of enemies, greeted to a pair of blue eyes, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades’.
Emphasizing that they set out to build a happy Denizli, Mayor Çavuşoğlu continued his speech as follows; ‘Friends, from now on, I ask something from you. From now on, we will struggle not for what I will become, but for what we will become. We will raise a generation that can say ‘what about my children’ when my children are beside me and my neighbor’s child. We will be people whose conscience is hurt if we are full while our neighbor is hungry, and we will not have a peaceful evening. We will create a Denizli where everyone’s face is smiling, where people are happy with their neighbors and friends’.
‘Long live the Republic!’ Mayor Çavuşoğlu said, ‘We will not be sick on May 19th. We will not have anything to do with those looking for report cards on August 30th. My friends, we will walk with those who have a huge love for the Republic in their hearts. When we say Republic, we will not be like those who say it with the tip of their tongue. We will be among those who say ‘Long live the Republic, Long live the Republic, Long live the Republic’ with a loud voice and a big heart. Trust us, believe in us, support us, my friends. We will turn Denizli into a city where people live in the most beautiful and rightful way. In this journey of ours, we will never exclude anyone. We will be with everyone. I love you all very much. Happy May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day to all of us’.
Mayor Çavuşoğlu then thanked the singer Göksel and presented a pedestal with the symbol of Denizli, a rooster figure, as a souvenir of the day.
