The exhibition named ‘A Yoruk Tale’ by Etem Çalışkan, one of the prominent figures in the Turkish art world who has been honored with the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Award for providing unique works and services that contribute significantly to Turkish culture and art life, has been opened at Başkent University Adana Dr. Turgut Noyan Application and Research Center. Etem Çalışkan, who is described as the only artist in Turkey and perhaps in the world who paints with letters, expresses his emotions with colors, carries the independence and freedom of Yoruks and the diligence and prosperity of Cukurovalılar to his works. The curator of the exhibition, Haluk Uygur, stated that Çalışkan, who reflects the lines of Anıtkabir, Atatürk’s personal style, leadership understanding, and qualities, and who is known as the designer of the symbol K.Atatürk, which is a special signature in the minds and hearts of the people, has a very impressive place in Turkish art history. At the talk organized after the opening of the exhibition, Etem Çalışkan shared his interest in Yoruk culture and its effects on art, as well as the stories behind his works and his artistic process. With great interest and intense participation, participants had the opportunity to closely examine the artist’s works and to learn in depth about Çalışkan’s personal stories and thoughts during this event held at Başkent University Adana Dr. Turgut Noyan Application and Research Center Winter Campus.
