The library with a view was gifted to the youth

Darıca Library, equipped with smart library system software, was inaugurated with a ceremony. The library, which houses a total of 50 thousand works, will offer young people the pleasure of reading books with a view. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality gave a meaningful gift to the youth on the occasion of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day by opening a library located at Bayır Street within Darıca National Garden.
Speaking at the program, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın said, ‘Here is a library with a unique sea view where our young people can drink tea or coffee for free, study, have internet access, and it is a library connected to the digital network of Metropolitan Municipality’s other libraries. Atatürk and those who founded the country are the ones who love their countries the most. We are presenting our Darıca Library, which we have built with its unique sea view and all modern equipment on the eve of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, as a gift to our young people. Our youth have always asked me for a place where they can study, and this place is that place.’
Deputy Chairman Responsible for Local Governments Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz emphasized the importance of Darıca Library being gifted to the youth on a very meaningful day like May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day and expressed his gratitude to Mayor Büyükakın for presenting such a beautiful work to the youth on the eve of such a meaningful day. He stated, ‘It is one of the best examples of the philosophy of keeping the state alive by keeping the people alive.’
After the speeches, the library opening was held with the participation of protocol members and citizens. The library, built in a modern style in line with the requirements of the age, will make a significant contribution to the city’s culture and literature life. In addition, Darıca Library, like the other libraries of the Metropolitan Municipality, will serve as a very meaningful center where young people shape their futures and host their academic journeys.
Built on a 180-acre land and with a capacity of 300 people, Darıca Library, which is designed and equipped with the same technical infrastructure as Derince Library, has an environmentally friendly smart building feature. Located within Darıca National Garden, the library is equipped with smart library systems, printed and electronic library collections to provide contemporary service to readers. The library, furnished with modern furniture, includes a multi-purpose hall, cafeteria, meeting room, and workshop areas.
In addition, the upper floor of the library will serve book lovers. This section for 140 people will offer citizens the pleasure of reading books against the unique Gulf view. Darıca Library, equipped with smart library system software, houses a total of 50 thousand books, including 20 thousand printed books and 30 thousand e-books in at least 31 categories. The library includes 3 catalog scanning kiosk systems, 15 computers, a TV, 500 bookshelf support, and integrated library system software.
