Middle school students in Bursa will have the opportunity to discover basic vocational skills through craft workshops. In Bursa, Hacı Sevim Yıldız Furniture and Interior Design Technology Vocational High School, Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association Vocational High School, Tophane Vocational High School, and Mimar Sinan Vocational High School will be included in the ‘Sectoral Excellence Center Schools’ within the scope of METEK III. The METEK III (Increasing Vocational and Technical Education) Project, carried out by the Ministry of National Education Vocational and Technical Education General Directorate, was discussed in a meeting attended by the Directorate of Social Partners and Projects Mustafa Günay, Bursa Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Ahmet Alireisoğlu, Deputy Provincial Director of National Education Bülent Altıntaş, directors of vocational and technical education institutions, and sector representatives. During the meeting, Directorate Mustafa Günay and Provincial Director Dr. Ahmet Alireisoğlu emphasized the important work carried out by Bursa in vocational education and sector cooperation. They stated that the Ministry of National Education will open courses called ‘craft workshops’ during this summer vacation for middle school students who want to discover basic vocational skills, with Bursa being among the pilot provinces. It was emphasized that developing a profession from a young age is important. Within the framework of METEK III, a separate title was opened for Sectoral Centers of Excellence established in 15 schools nationwide. Directorate Mustafa Günay mentioned that through the Sectoral Centers of Excellence, which aim to ensure the continuous professional development of teachers by establishing a permanent connection between vocational and technical education and the sector, the adaptation of teachers to developments in the sector will be achieved. He stated that the process of assigning general coordinators and vocational development coordinators to these centers has started with the officialization of the directive, and the related efforts will gain momentum. The METEK III project implemented in 25 pilot provinces, including Bursa, aims to strengthen the cooperation between vocational and technical education and the private sector, develop awareness and common understanding regarding the harmony of education and employment processes, and facilitate knowledge sharing on the latest developments in vocational and technical education and the private sector. In Bursa, Hacı Sevim Yıldız Furniture and Interior Design Technology Vocational High School, Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association Vocational High School, Tophane Vocational High School, and Mimar Sinan Vocational High School are included as ‘Sectoral Excellence Center Schools’ within the scope of METEK III.
