Halit Acar, the President of the Turkey-Iraq Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), stated in his congratulatory message issued on the occasion of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day that ‘The date when the first steps towards freedom from captivity were taken is also an important turning point in our national history.’ Pointing out the significance of May 19, 1919, when the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms set foot from Samsun to Anatolia, igniting the torch of the national struggle, Halit Acar emphasized that they celebrate the 105th anniversary of this historic day with great enthusiasm and pride. He highlighted that May 19, 1919, is the victory where our nation, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, ignited the fire of independence against the occupying states, and the first step in the establishment of our Republic. Celebrating May 19 as the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day is both an indelible memory of our national struggle and the greatest source of inspiration for the generations looking towards the future. Our common duty is to keep the spirit of the national struggle alive, contribute to preparing our youth for the future in the best conditions, and create the necessary conditions for them in the new century. Of course, the most important task for our youth is to prepare for the future by using the opportunities provided to them in the best way possible and to hand over our homeland in better conditions to the generations that will follow them. We trust our youth just like Mustafa Kemal Atatürk did. Therefore, it is our most important task to raise our youth as confident, contemporary, knowledgeable, loyal to national and spiritual values, believing in democracy, hardworking, productive, and efficient individuals. The strong and prestigious Turkey of the current century will rise on your shoulders. While commemorating Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of the Republic, all Turkish elders, the revered martyrs who sacrificed their lives to make these lands our homeland, and the veterans who have passed away with mercy, gratitude, and gratitude, I congratulate the May 19th Youth and Sports Day.
